Kuumbwa Jazz is an internationally recognized nonprofit jazz venue.
We are one of the longest weekly nonprofit jazz presenters on the West Coast,
established in 1975. When we aren’t presenting our own weekly jazz series,
the venue is available for outside promoters to bring in acts such as bluegrass,
folk, Celtic and world music. The venue is also available for special occasions
such as receptions, private parties, and community events.
Kuumbwa Jazz is all ages venue.

Jim Greiner is an award-winning percussionist, teacher and
community drumming leader who has made his home in Santa Cruz since
the 1970's.
He plays and teaches congas, bongos, djembe, timbales, doumbek,
frame drums, udu and a wide range of hand percussion instruments
including Shekere, maracas and other shakers, claves, afuce/cabasa,
tambourine, bells and percussion sound effects in a wide range of
traditional and contemporary musical styles. Jim is an
endorser/clinician for a number of top instrument makers, including
Latin Percussion Instruments (LP), Sabian Cymbals, ProMark
Drumsticks, Gibraltar Drum Hardware, Audix Microphones and Factory
Metal Percussion. He is also Head Artist of LP's Recreational &
Community Drumming Program (www.communitydrumming.com). He has
played worldwide in one of the country's top corporate events bands
for 15 years, at festivals with Sista Monica Parker,
and has been active in the Bay Area recording scene, doing sessions
for CD's, jingles and feature films. Jim also conducts community
drumming programs locally and worldwide for corporate team
building, conference/meeting ice breaking, community groups,
